Ministry of Social Welfare is a Ministry of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. [2] One of the leading organizations in Bangladesh is working for the development and implementation of social development, social services and rules related to the country.
Social services department is one of the other national organizations of the government. Social work was started in the country in 1955 but in 1961 social services department was created. Today, the creation of the 1960s has been promoted to the Department of Social Services.
The activities of the Directorate were initially based on city-based and service. At present, this department has expanded at grassroots level throughout the country. Department of Social Welfare, Social Welfare Ministry is working relentlessly to strengthen the social safety net with comprehensive and multipurpose programs for the welfare and development of the destitute, neglected, backward, poor, orphans, autistic and disabled people and the disadvantaged sections of the society.
After the partition of the country in 1947, various social problems arose in the provincial capital of Dhaka with slum problems. Under the Urban Community Development Board, Dhaka, in consultation with the experts of the UN, these social problems were taken in 1955 by the City Social Welfare Office and social welfare council. In 1961, the responsibility for the management of the state orphanage (government children's family) under the Orphanic and Widow Sadan Act of 1944 was carried out under the provisions of the Bengal Vagghore Act, 1944, and the social welfare department was formed in 1961. Later, due to the widespread expansion and widespread social services, the government became a permanent national organization in 1978 and was recognized as the Department of Social Services in 1984.
